@ShotACharlatan (love the name change, by the way!) wanted to hear the theory, so here we go. I would apologize in advance, but... I don't want to. Buckle up children. It's gonna be one hell of a ride. So I'm not saying Henry and Frank are the same person (I think it's fairly obvious that they aren't), but they do both fulfill the same role in TGWDLM and BF's respective arcs. From a character perspective, they're both adults in a position of power who act as pseudo-mentors to the female protagonist. They're also two of the most flamboyant characters Starkid has put onstage in recent memory, but that's beside the point. From a story perspective, again, both are mentor-like figures to their respective story's female protagonist (Emma and Lex), both with an unhealthy obsession to something that fuels the apocalypse. For Henry, it's both musical theater and the desire for unity, whereas for Frank, it's money. This obsession is revealed or reiterated in a (mostly) solo number (Show Stoppin' Number and Our Doors Are Open). The obsession eventually leads to the apocalypse threatening the lives of both him and the female protag (Emma tied up while Henry lures in the infected, Lex and Frank captured in an attempt to find the last Wiggly doll). He dies at the hands of the apocalypse, leaving the protag to face death, only to then be saved by a man whose fate is to eventually be killed by the same apocalypse (Paul gets infected, Gen. MacNamara will eventually disintegrate, his soul absorbing fully into the Black and White). I'm not sorry for any of this. Thank you, goodnight!

Going to write my response as I read: 1) thank you so much! 2) love the califorMIA reference 3) oooh that’s genuinely really interesting, a few of the characters really do share some parallels in terms of their narrative roles and I hadn’t considered any of that before!

Oh, and for anyone wondering, this thought came to me at 3am after 7 straight hours of drafting my next Hatchetfield fic. I then stayed up until 8am rewatching BF and TGWDLM to flesh it out, wrote it all down in my notes app, and promptly fell asleep.
