People always assume I dislike Hinata Hyuga because I’m a huge Sakura Haruno fan, but no.. my issue is genuinely with the writing.
Hinata is one of the most male-centered female characters in Naruto. Almost every major aspect of her character revolves around Naruto Uzumaki, and it gets exhausting after a point. The Hyuga clan storyline had SO much potential, yet her perspective on it barely gets explored in depth.
And don’t even get me started on Neji. Neji Hyuga literally died trapped in the same branch-family cycle that traumatized him his whole life, and the emotional focus immediately shifted to Naruto’s hand being “warm.” That writing choice will never not bother me.
Then in The Last: Naruto the Movie, Hanabi’s eyes get gouged out and the movie still prioritizes scarf-making and romance over actually exploring the Hyuga family dynamics
And combat-wise… people hype her up as the “Byakugan princess,” but she barely has meaningful onscreen wins. Meanwhile Sakura consistently has some of the best feats and one of the highest win rates among the kunoichi, yet people reduce HER to “crying over Sasuke.” Be serious.
Anyways before y’all jump me: disliking a character does not mean attacking people who like her and yes, academic stress is the reason I vanished for a bit. I’m alive, just getting folded by studies rn.
