ayy now it's summer I think I'll start to resume my stories lolllll
something that has kinda held me back from writing is Wattpad's algorithm/the readers.
I feel like it's really hard for any stories to get noticed if they DON'T have any romance/sexual tension in the story, which actually makes me really sad as someone who enjoys prose and psychological thrillers. It makes me think that every single reader on Wattpad is just thirsty for romance novels and never reading other stories.
I'm aware that Wattpad has a separate category/hashtag for stories without romance, but still, even the #1 in for example, adventure or fantasy, can barely compare with the amount of reads/votes the #1 has in the romance.
I just really hope more people read things that don't have romance because I'm sure the books you read irl don't have much romance in it either. Of course, I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't read romance stories- I'll admit they're pretty good- but sometimes I wish stories without a romance tag would get more recognition. Think about it- even a poorly written fanfiction with horrible grammar gets more reads than an original paranormal/horror story.
Heck, maybe I should go write a romance with a bad storyline if I have time :)
Lastly, of course I'm not trying to flame anybody or attack them :> I just want more ppl to read all types of genres :)
