I am a retired public high school English teacher and co-author with Jackie Hirtz of the tween novel Lola Zola and the Lemonade Crush. Prior to teaching, I worked as a news director at non-commercial radio stations, KPFK and KPCS in the Los Angeles area. When not teaching or writing, I guest host Connect the Dots for Lila Garrett on KPFK (90.7 FM) in Los Angeles.
I have posted two books (chapters) on Wattpad -- Lola Zola and the Lemonade Crush (link to Amazon below) and Dingo, the Dog Who Found His Bark. I dedicate Dingo to three dogs, two I wish I had had the courage and foresight to rescue and one my daughter Gina and I adopted at the pound in South Los Angeles. The adopted one, Roxy, lived a long and joyful life, surrounded by love.
I met my writing partner through a college friend, who was Jackie's sister. After reading one of Jackie's screenplays, I realized we both embraced a zany, sometimes whimsical, sometimes poignant style, and could partner on a few projects. We free-lanced for Nickelodeon (Doug, animated episodes) for new media (educational software), and the LA Times, and have been writing together on and off for years. Jackie has a great story sense and will say things like, "It's too easy, Marce. Let's put more obstacles in the character's way." So we do -- as you'll see when you read our Lola Zola books. Enjoy.
You can read the full novel Lola Zola and the Lemonade Crush on Amazon.
