I know this is annoying af but there's an easier solution to this whole ordeal. Click on the setting button on your profile and then go to account settings and scroll all the way down. There you will find something that says: receive updates from profiles I follow. Untick (I don't even know if that's a word-) anyways, untick that thing and you won't receive these types of notifications anymore.
