You have clearly never been a member of a pureblood family. I have been. I have a father I've met once, a mother who died when I was six, but despite all that, I still had a reputation to uphold. I still have to get married and carry on the bloodline because I'm the only child. So did he. But he just left it for his brother instead. A brother who wasn't even supposed to be an heir. That's what you don't realise. The oldest have their lives set out. It's normal. We deal with it. But Regulus could have had a childhood if he hadn't been so selfish. Because he wasn't cut from the same cloth as Sirius. He was innocent in ways his brother never was.
