@smileykylieee it’s genuinely insane. i feel like writers forget most people DO have self respect, but they also have feelings other than horniness as well and that means being upset and hurt takes priority over them romantic feelings. words and actions linger and so may characters don’t even take the time to apologise let alone grovel. it’s so annoying and disappointing especially for younger, more easily influenced readers bec they may normalise it in their head and irl. honestly it reinforces the whole narrative that if a boy hates you then it means he had a crush on you, which basically excuses a boy stepping all over a girl because of a silly little crush. that whole view basically teaches kids NOT to communicate. also writers pick and choose when they want to a character to be realistic emotionally an when they don’t. it’s soo annoying. and also this is why ive not read why of rina kent’s book, ive read spoilers and i know it would pmo despite the fomo i get from not reading. 

@reallyreniee literally. i feel like writers often write forget to write in any grovel or character development because they’re just too focused on writing a happy romance, which then makes it unrealistic. bec in reality no one would even give a person who belittled them the time of day, at least without an apology!

He freakin ABUSED YOU, and never apologized (u can’t apologize for abuse, anyway) never grovelled- nothing! That’s not love. That’s glorified abuse and 100% misogyny. I’ve learned to accept that stories like that on this app are written/ read by children or awful people, but the fact that there’s PUBLISHED books like this is insane. I genuinely hate booktok sm bro it set us back. We are NEVER leaving the patriarchy with y’all romanticizing Sh*tter M*, enemies to lovers, C*lle*n H**ver, jeremy volkov (and every male like him), AND MORE!

@mary4mm It's so kind of you. Honestly, I totally get what you mean, finding new books in this genre is tough sometimes. It feels like all the new and good ones are buried under the big names.

@Nyxwrites_ nooo i love reading new books and giving different authors a go. all the books in tags are fairly old or by very popular authors so its much harder finding new books as it is, you even messaging on my board makes the search for a new book easier! and i love showing support as best as i can :)

@annalisebyers seeing my old reading lists slowly dwindling because authors have taken their books down is genuinely so sad i can’t and going through my following to realise others have been taken down as well makes it ten times worse ;(( 

@AkornDefalko it’s so mixed for me but i’ve read all the new/recent books i would usually read so now all that’s left is the books ive dropped or the old cringe books or books that haven’t been updated in years. tried the hashtags as well and they’re also outdated. it’s annoying because i know there’s some new good books out there which ive yet to discover that deserve to be read and have consistent updates despite low reader amounts :(

@mary4mm RIGHTTT and the worst part is that the author is so talented too like i genuinely got so hooked on their story only to read halfway for it to be paid….

@itsnotirenex i was HAHA its so silly considering wattpad is the reason you got ur followers and people know your writing, also making a story paid knowing theres many other amazing writers who’ve made similar stories with pretty much the same plot but even better writing (not saying the authors a bad writer) lowkey seems so arrogant to me

@mary4mm I feel you! It’s wild how they just skip over the trauma. Like, trauma’s not something you just shake off  because you met a cute guy. Healing takes time, and the way they act like it’s all better with a relationship? Nah, that’s not real. More stories need to show how messy it is to heal, especially when you’ve been through years of trauma. Also, the broken ribs thing? Don’t even. There’s no way someone with broken ribs is running around or fighting. It’s so unrealistic. Oh, don’t even get me started on the assassin trope. Like, I get it’s kinda cool, but it’s just so overdone and kinda cringe at this point. I feel like they try to make it all edgy, but it often ends up feeling way too much. Also, your rants are so on point. Keep them coming, I’m vibing with them.

@Nyxwrites_ exactly!! especially if they’re only 16/17 even 18 or 20 like they’re so young and it feels like it kind of takes away from the family side of things as well. like you’ve only just got eachother back and bonded and now there’s a new person added into the equation. i wanna see them grow and heal from their trauma, but also show that trauma never truly disappears. as soon as a love interest is added i feel as though they make the trauma completely disappear when in reality it’s still going to remain there especially if you’ve been through a lot over YEARS. you don’t just get over years worth of trauma in a few months, it’s a process. it’s also something that will remain even if you’re in a relationship with someone. as a matter of fact if you’re in a healthy relationship, ur more like to struggle more from the trauma because it’s not something you’re used to and i find that that is never shown. sorry gone on a long rant there :( 

@mary4mm Yeah, that kind of thing always gives me the ick especially when it jumps straight into romance with no real buildup, especially in a trauma-heavy story, I just can’t keep reading. It pulls me out of it completely.

@berrylovin_chick omg i absolutely LOVED it im so excited for the next few chapters. i binged the entire thing i couldn’t get enough. its got to be one of the best and well written books i’ve read in a long while, it has such a unique plot im invested!
