Hi Reader-friends and Writer-friends!

I haven't been around much because I taught 4 college courses last fall. It was hectic. But I'm here now, and will continue adding more stories soon.

Glad to be back. Wishing you a safe and happy new year!

Happy Wednesday! I just added chapter six, which is told from Juliana's point of view, to By Water & Wood:

If all goes according to plan, I've now written 25% of the chapters for this novel. It's been a refreshing journey thus far to revisit my MFA fiction thesis as a fresh rewrite. Some days it can be frustrating because I know I have a 300+ page book for this story, but the rewrite is stronger. I know the characters better. The end result will be worth the effort.

          Thanks for reading along!

          Be well!

Happy Saturday!

Well, my covid-19-like symptoms seem to have abated. But you know what? I can tell the trees near me are about to get leafy because my seasonal allergies have kicked into high gear.

I've decided to unpublish The Dream Walker for now. That story, so out of my usual style, is taking more out of me than I thought it would. I will keep working on it, but I think I only want to have at max, two ongoing stories published at a time. You may see other stories pop up on my profile, but it's overwhelming for me right now to have more than two ongoing stories.

That said, now that I'm on the mend, it's fair to expect a new chapter for both The Ballad of Alys Fletcher and By Water and Wood each week.

In other writerly news, I've recently been submitting shorter works to literary magazines. I submitted a short story that will ultimately be part of a larger collection to 9 journals, and I submitted a historical essay of creative nonfiction to True Stories. It's been a week of heavy editing, which is easier for me to do when I'm sick, so at least I got to feel productive somehow. :)

I hope you're doing well! If you need something to read while you wait for new chapters of my two historical novels, don't forget I have two completed stories as well: Pathogen and The Day After.

Hi dear readers and friends,

This has been a slow week. I haven't felt particularly energetic, what with being sick. But the good news is this: Today I wrote two letters! I believe this presages a return to regular writing for my stories on Wattpad, as I've been meaning to reply to some correspondence for several days.

Thank you for your patience! <3

It's been a bit of a rough week, friends. I've been sick. I think it's a mild version of COVID-19. I have every symptom but the fever, but not that bad...though there were a couple of days this week when I simply could not get myself out of bed. I haven't been tested, but someone in my household has it and I've had symptoms for 11 days.

Anyway, I plan to do some writing this morning. I'm hoping that will lead to posting in The Ballad of Alys Fletcher. You'll see an announcement from me if it does! But The Dream Walker may have to wait until next week for a new chapter.

          Be well!
