I normally only dedicate the soppy, long birthday novels to my closest friends, but on account of how important this person is to me, I guess I can make an exception.
I never imagined that an artist would ever influence me so much until I discovered Min Yoongi.
He is undeniably a complex person to thoroughly understand. He gives off the vibe of solitude and deep thought, lost in his own world in outer space. In reality, his heart is one of gold, like a shining star. With a tough, unbothered facade, Yoongi hides one of the purest, kindest and deepest souls a person could have. My admiration for his music is immeasurable not only due to its marvelous quality, but also the message he spreads using it. He never really says anything directly, instead he does so tacitly, yet I always know exactly what he's trying to express through his artistry. Every story he delivers inspires people to find their inner strength and oppose their hindrances, face to face, because if he could defeat social anxiety and depression and not let them cripple him, then everyone else can try and do the same. He effortlessly empowers so many people around the world and I find this fascinating.
He's gone through a lot, mentally and physically, but all that culminated in the person he is today. A recognised rapper and producer and, above all, an outstanding human being. He's that person who proves that you should never give up on your dreams and instead, you should work hard to make them reality.
Yoongi never, ever fails to inspire me to become a better version of myself and to continue evolving in order to achieve my goals and be a good, decent person. Inspired by him, I ultimately decided to pursue music, my •first love•.
I'll be forever grateful that he rekindled my love for music and my faith in myself, two things that are crucial to my future!
