I'm an American pilot who flew for several years in Central and South America supporting the counter-drug effort. I flew out of the former Panama Canal Zone, where many of my stories are based.
WINGS OF BLUE is about flying and skydiving, and how the two came together one day during a military exercise in Honduras. It's a tribute to the many brave and interesting people with whom I had the pleasure to serve while in that part of the world. It's also the story of bush flying, which is flying airplanes into and out of runways or fields that are in the middle of nowhere. Flying in the Amazon jungle or around the countryside of Central America is not like flying into a regular airport, and these stories describe that adventure.
In addition to WINGS OF BLUE, I have written other aviation-related adventures that are available on Amazon, B&N, Apple, Kobo, and other platforms. They include:
FLYING NAKED - AN AMERICAN PILOT IN THE AMAZON JUNGLE;
THE JUNGLE EXPRESS;
and MEMORIES OF AN EMERALD WORLD.
I have been flattered to have other pilots compare my writing to that of the famous aviator Ernest Gann, who wrote the classic FATE IS THE HUNTER.
One reviewer wrote, "[Bleriot] has captured everything from the emotions to the scenery to the personalities to the culture [of flying]. There is virtually no parallel to the kind of flying these guys did, considering the combination of terrain, weather, charting, etc.. Their world demanded a constant, unique mix of the low/no-tech of the '30's and the high-tech of today, and Bleriot brings that tension to life."
Under the name D.M. Sears, I have written a separate adventure series (non-aviation type) for Middle Grade readers in the 10-15-year-old age range. It's called THE UNTIMELY JOURNEY OF VERONICA T. BOONE.
I invite/encourage you to check out all these adventures!

Recently I learned an interesting tradition in parts of Europe: people wear poppies to remember soldiers fallen in war, a tradition started after World War I and memorialized in the poem In Flanders...View all Conversations
