Is it true? She asks. To herself. To everyone and no one at all. To the empty abyss that is scary yet familiar all the same. She does know this place. She has been here before. Just before it all faded away, this is where she was taken. As if it was a last farewell before her new beginning. And now, now she stands tall and proud. Glancing back and forth at the memories that dance in her eyes.
She remembers. Her friends. Her family. Her life. The love, the hate, the confusing in between. The late nights and the early mornings. The good times and the bad. Everything that has gotten her here, in this very moment. And in this very moment, she realizes that she is not here because she is lost or forgotten.
She is here to be reminded of how unique and precious those memories are. The ones that made her laugh, cry, sing, dance, smile, yell, scream. Those with the people in her past, her present and her future.
The ones that got her to where she is now and will help her to become who she is meant to be. The memories that exist guide her through life as she learns and listens and makes mistakes. The memories she will truly never forget.
She feels alive for reasons she can't explain. "The abyss wasn't a dark place to take me down, it was there to remind me of how I got there in the first place, and how I can get out." She says. To herself, to everyone and absolutely no one.
"The abyss doesn't kill you unless you let it."
