A sneak peek from my DadForOne AFO-Izuku fic, A Pillar of Lies:
'They wouldn't do that!' Izuku protested, voice ringing with conviction. 'Heroes are good!'
Kurogiri said nothing. He stared at the boy's bright emerald eyes-eyes still too young, still too naive. How easily Izuku painted the world in black and white, never seeing the greys that bled between the lines, the darkness hidden in the corners. Kurogiri shook his head, silent in his objection.
His young master would learn to see the world differently-just like he did. His master, All For One, would see to it. And he'd understand. Not because it was what he wanted, but because it was the truth. And the truth-as much as Kurogiri had wished it wasn't real-was harsh, unforgiving, and undeniable.
'Does Daddy not like heroes?'
The question pierced the quiet, curling through the air like mist around his black wisps.
Kurogiri paused. His master had ordered him to be discreet around Izuku, to avoid topics too close to the truth. The instruction was vague-but his master's will was absolute. He would not disobey. He couldn't. Not after all his master had done. Even if he wasn't quite who he used to be anymore. Even if what he was... wasn't quite human either.
He'd correct this mistake. He'd follow his oath.
Kurogiri straightened, voice calm.
'That's perhaps a conversation to have with your father.'
