          “She didn’t seem to be affected by her words. I imagined that the countless hours she agonized over this time frame had desensitized her, as if the pain was so great that her brain now went unconscious when speaking these words. Now it was just a number to her. To me, however, it was the amount of time I had left to have a dad.”
