Just a little preview: “I wasn’t banging Anthony.” Amber smirked. “If I had been, there wouldn’t have been a need to go banging Hutch, now would there be?”
“She has a point.” Sammi giggled. “I mean, absolutely nothing about Anthony Brigham screams sex fiend.”
“But everything about Hennessey Martin does.” Casey fanned herself without an ounce of dramatics. “That boy shouldn’t be street legal he’s so gorgeous.”
Casey had always secretly had a thing for Hennessey, not that she’d ever admit it. He had always been so madly in love with Amber, since the first day of freshmen year, and Casey had always been in love with Slade. And it wasn’t like she and Hennessey would ever get together. They were both to charismatic, too beautiful, too egocentric. It would be a disaster plain and simple.
But that didn’t mean that when they were starring as opposing forces in whatever school production happened to be running, she couldn’t ignore the draw. She’d kissed Hennessey a million times, for professional reasons, but she couldn’t help the dizzying rush that made its way up her spine every time their lips touched. And for the few moments that they were on stage together, Casey could swear he was as madly in love with her as he was supposed to be, and their chemistry was magical, ethereal and consuming, a perfectly woven spell of attraction and perfection. But the minute the curtain fell, the spell was over and he was running back into Amber’s arms, or running off to Ibiza to be in a boy band. Or whatever.
