@learntolove Hey, I think I just read one of your stories and made a couple general comments. One thing I really recommend is trying to find a critique group -- two-three people who will support your writing efforts and help you improve. On my blog, I've mentioned more than once good critiquers are worth their weight in gold.

Execution of the the idea is nine-tenths of the read? Too bad that All too often, popular tropes are executed by lack of craft skills.
Whatever, I'm feeling my way around here ... possibly in an attempt to improve my short story skills. Only problem, I'm working on a novel and blogging and etc. So far, I've enjoyed the pieces I've read.
Oh, I assume if I clicked the "show my work on other sites" that Google reads will list it somewhere in its bowels.
@mktheod - depends how you do them perhaps =] There are some quite good vampire stories on here, as long as they don't sparkle. I've always been amazed by how different elves can be represented. Be it Feist's different types like the Moredhel and Eledhel, Pratchett's downright nasty ones, Tolkein's, Brooks' ah the list goes on. Warning you are now entering nerd territory.
