          You made me realize I never explained why going barefoot could be noisier in that scene. My idea was that the floors had gravel, so every step made a sound. I didn’t have beta readers to catch things like this, so really, thanks for pointing it out!
          
          I’ve already changed the scene to make it clearer. Sadly, your comment got lost when I edited the chapter, so I couldn’t thank you there... so I'm writing here instead.
