@motherguts Something that’s been nagging me about El and Kali’s ending is like…they’re essentially punished for what the story claims to empower Will.
            
            Because his whole arc revolves around him being a “sorcerer” with “innate” powers. Except he’s not — his powers are from something else, he’s closer to a warlock — which would just be a tiny nitpick EXCEPT for the fact that this better describes EL AND KALI. El and Kali who suffer specifically BECAUSE of those powers. 
            
            Will having innate powers = empowering, over coming his trauma 
            
            Kali and El having powers = they’re a burden on everyone around them
            
            Like make it make sense. They even say Will is permanently changed, just like them and their “mutated blood.” And where was “realism” when they broke their own lore to have Will — still connected to the hive mind, mind you — survive the Mind Flayer and Vecna dýing when nothing else did? 
            
            Like I LOVED Will’s arc and his powers (Which was a surprise because I’d always disliked “Will has powers” theories, but they did it waaay better in the show) and I would be LIVID if they had actually kílled him, but it just…it really emphasizes what you said: the Duffers didn’t see El (or Kali) as her own character. Just a plot device.

@virqoswrld i will say the finale was building up to be VERY GOOD, despite yk the final fight being slightly anticlimactic, and i enjoyed it up to el’s death. same with the epilogue i enjoyed most of it, especially lumax, but el not being there and mike being the only one that is severely depressed abt her is BULLSHIT. especially since hopper should’ve at LEAST been semi broken. but a lot of things abt this season regarding relationships were done poorly, minus lumax. so i enjoyed everything mostly minus el’s death/ ambiguous ending; which to me isn’t enough :/

@saItburn she deserved the world and back it’s honestly heartbreaking, and poorly written, to see her have that horrible ending while everyone else is happy (exception of mike) 

she deserved her happy ending more than anyone
