Oh my Lord, can we please stop with all of these ridiculous, possessive romances? I'm sorry, I love a good romance where the guy protects the girl and all, but if I read one more story where he screams "MINE!" at every boy who talks to her, there's going to be problems.
You may be dating but that doesn't make them yours. They do not belong to you.
I'm not justifying cheating here, but pointing out this trope of book-boys that won't let their girlfriends talk to anyone.
Beating up everyone they talk to, everyone who hurts them, that isn't romantic. It's creepy and parental.
Texting them rules for when they go out with friends isn't protective or sweet. It's creepy and parental.
As someone's significant other, it isn't your job to make their decisions or fight their battles. It's your job to support their decisions and help them through their battles.
You should never rely 100% on your SO, not for basic human functions.
Claiming ownership of a living, breathing human, and beating up anyone who challenges that, it isn't sexy, it isn't hot, IT'S SLAVERY.
She's not mine.
She's not yours.
She belongs to herself.
