thirty  year  old  nathan  grinch  loves  the holiday season , especially christmas day . he loves seeing all the beautiful decorations  and  the lights hanging outside of the houses  or  wrapped  around  the  trees . instead of living up in the mountains  in  a  secluded  cabin like before , he now lives down  with  the whos  in their  neighborhood . he  used  to have nothing but his loyal  dog - Max - and now he owns a local animal shelter , taking care of the many  abandoned  or lost animals and making sure that they all find a happy home . whos  that  knew  him   before  would  say  that  he was  very  mean   tempered  and  misanthropic  ,  however  if  anyone  meets  him  now , they'd  come  to  find  out  he is  a  very   kind   and  genuine  being   who  truly  cares  for  the well - being  of  other  whos  .  he  ( now )  puts  anyone  before  himself , something  he definitely  would  have not done  a  few  years  back  when  he despised everyone and everything  .  and  sure  ,  maybe   he  did  ' try '  to  destroy  christmas  in  whoville  by  stealing  all  of  their  trees  and lights  and  food  and  presents  ,  but  to  be  fair  that  was  all  before  his  heart  grew  three  sizes .
