@cnidarias !              why??  i’m fine!      [ said with a wide, reassuring grin. it wouldn’t do him any good finding their doctor if it meant june was still injured. minutes passed at the glimmering ocean began to nearby until they were standing right by the water ]     okay now what?

but luffy!  you should really go see chopper!  [allowing herself to be pulled along by him,  she doubts her words will actually sway him—  but she’d be damned if she didn’t try.]  

@cnidarias !               alright then!     [ even though he’d only been sat for mere seconds, he was already jumping back on his feet. hand connecting with hers, he (surprisingly gently) pulls her up to stand ]     the beach is nearby,  let’s go!     [ completely disregarding his own injuries, as per usual, he starts walking towards the coast of the island ] 

@mugimonki,              （    that familiar feeling of annoyance re-surfaces,   bringing her hand up and slapping the back of luffy’s head.    ）      YOU ALREADY ATE AN HOUR AGO!      （    nami exclaims,   brows knitting together.   a huff escaping before a smug smile crosses her features,   arms crossed,    ）      but..   ahem!      （    once the straw hat pirate clears her throat,   a bag is thrusted out to the black-haired individual.   cheeks flushed,    ）      i ordered another set of beef skewers,   you can take them!   if it’ll stop you from acting like a starved child!   besides,   we have a HUGE journey ahead,   we need our captain in our right mind. @burglarys !          i know we do!  the issue being that there is no food for me to eat!!     [ genuine concern written into his expression at the mere thought of figuring anything out on an empty stomach. his head whipped from side to side as he searched everywhere for signs of a meal ] 

@cnidarias !             so is she like an underwater giant??     [ leave it to luffy to ask such random questions but it came from genuine curiosity. if he was going to meet her, he wanted to know as much as possible about her ]      busy doing what??  and what about your dad??  what’s he doing?? 

yeah,   but that’s not gonna happen.  [june retorts with a dismissive wave of her hand,   there wasn’t a doubt in her mind that her mother would absolutely love and adore luffy.]    she’s gonna love you,  i know it.  and mhm,  she’s really big and beautiful.  i don’t see her as much because she’s always busy,  but she’s always taken care of us.

@cnidarias !                [ he merely shrugged his shoulders when she corrected him, but made a mental note not to say it again ]      of course she’ll love me,  and if she doesn’t then it doesn’t matter because we’ll still be best friends!       [ it was that simple to him. never one to care of what others thought of him and he was not going to start now ]      i’m still excited to meet her.  she seems soooo cool from what you’ve told me. 

@pirateroots !             ehhhhh how else am i supposed to act?     [ the pirate’s shoulders shrug in a manner that gave the impression that he was rather bored, going so far as to yawn ]      i could always kick your butt..  but i’m really hungry right now. 

@cnidarias !         [ he wants to be able to say he would be there for her through this process. that she could turn to him whenever the grief was too unbearable. but he couldn’t make such a promise yet, hopefully at some point in the future ]     do you think it’ll get easier?     [ asking softly as his finger pushes some of the food back and forth on the plate, picking up a small piece of bread and taking a bite ] 

you don’t have to say sorry,  he was your brother before anything.  and i’m handling it in my own way.  [the pad of her thumb rubs over his knuckles before finally letting his hands go.  she gently smiles as he finally relents to her pleads,  it was certainly a step in the right direction.]

[ though her words brought a temporary warmth of comfort, it was incredibly short lived. the blame he carried on his shoulders would simply have to be used as motivation for the training rayleigh had in store for him. his eyes follow her movements, taking in all of the details of her face as she kissed his hands ]      you lost ace too.  i’m sorry.      [ wrapped up in his own grief, he hadn’t thought of how this might have been affecting her. ]      june..
