what i dont understand is why X Male Reader stories have (M/N) - male name and not (Y/N) - your name. Its almost like the story isnt actually for male readers, but for girls (whom ffs are catered towards) to read MLM content.
          
          ive seen way too many MLM ffs that use that and idk.. it makes me feel weird? Like what if i really wanted to use my name, but the insert says (male name), like i dont already have one. not to mention not all guys have traditionally male names.

            Lol, when I read fanfics I don't like picturing myself as (Y/N), so I make up random characters with similar features as me but I don't identify as them. And when (Y/N) is mentioned it makes me think about the female version of that character. So I guess people adding (M/N) is of (Y/N) is a way of making sure the reader knows they are talking about a male character
