finished the best set of books i’ve read in a long time, perhaps just the best set of books i’ve read ever, and finally listened to florence’s everybody scream album and it’s moments like this where i realize i can’t be a pessimist i can’t be a nihilist and i can’t be without the arts. i sit and cry and my chest and throat hurt when i think about how much music and reading and writing stories means to me, and i imagine a world where those things are valued by all to the extent with which they are valued by me. and all forms of art are interconnected and compliment each other. i can’t listen to music and not brim with excitement as thoughts about my stories come to me unhesitatingly. i’m feeling very Feely. do NOT read the poppy war trilogy it will mess you up BAD. #stream everybody scream idk. Mother asked is this how it is? is this how it’s always been? to exist in the face of suffering and death and somehow still keep singing? and i said Well yes!

i would like to bring everyone’s attention to gaza direct aid which is a relief program operating in the gaza strip. its founder, ehab, who i have personally spoken to many times since june, and the gda team offer humanitarian aid to palestinian communities with the help of global donations. if you have the means to donate, it would be a great help! i also highly recommend following gda on instagram (@/gazadirectaid) as well as ehab (@/rida_ehab) to stay updated on their work and see the many photos and videos showing you exactly where your money is going and what it is funding. in the face of active suppression from instagram as well, the team really needs their page to reach more people.

here is the link to gda’s about us post that will tell you everything you need to know about their cause (the caption makes a great point about printing this out as many times as you’d like and posting the flyers in public places or bringing them to protests!):

the only movies released in 2025 are sinners, superman, and kpop demon hunters to ME! locking myself in a dark room sitting in the corner and contemplating…finding parallels….making connections….noticing patterns…..there is hope there is music there is storytelling i am going to be okay we are going to be okay.

@sourmuse i’m still thinking about superman two days after watching it i LOVE IT. i was smiling and crying we’re SO back. nuanced storytelling like this allows us to explore and challenge power structures and our understanding of justice, governance, identity, etc. it makes us feel and see and understand in ways we’re not used to, and for that it will always be so, so important.

@tmrscovenx right?!? i was in the theatre two days ago to watch superman and i watched all the trailers during pre-show and they only reinforced my love for each of these movies’ relevance because my god. originality and good storytelling feel so out of reach lately. i’m not saying that superman, sinners, and kpdh are completely and utterly original, but each of them possess a genuinely palpable realness and they draw you in. their stories are worth following, unlike another animated cat in the hat adaptation or another gritty, hyper-masculine action drama where the one-dimensional protagonist is always targeted by foreign criminal organizations for some reason. i’m tired. live laugh love superman, sinners and kpdh thank you and goodnight

it is, and has been for a heartbreakingly long time, crucial that the words and campaigns of palestinians are heeded and amplified. gaza has reached stage five of malnutrition, and there will be no coming back from this level of deprivation for many, many people. history has seen deliberate starvation like this before.

if you hear news of any organizations or upcoming protests near you (try to seek them out yourself as well!), if you are presented with a fundraising campaign that offers direct aid to palestine and, even better, if they are being run by palestinians, i implore you to keep fighting the good fight. your money matters, your support matters. we still aren’t helpless, this still isn’t out of our hands.

brirosebud

what’s happening is insanity, and proves how much humanity has declined and learned nothing. sending prayers for everyone in Gaza, and praying that the world will open their eyes to what’s really happening : an attempt to completely erase Palestinian people. it’s sickening. i have lost so much respect for so many authors, especially published ones with large platforms, they have not spoken out on this or simply just posted once on the topic. silence is compliance. i love u girl, never stop using ur voice.

*history has seen governments—occupiers—enable the deliberate starvation of a population before. the point still stands. when you find yourself thinking about what you would’ve said and done all those other moments in time, know what what you’re saying and doing now are the answers you’re looking for.

ANDOR S2 SPOILERS: “[…] This chamber is a cauldron of opinions and we’ve certainly all had our patience and tempers tested in pursuit of our ideals. Disagree as we might, I am hopeful that those of you who know me will vouch for my credibility in the days to come. I stand this morning with a difficult message. I believe we are in crisis. The distance between what is said and what is known to be true has become an abyss. Of all the things at risk, the loss of an objective reality is perhaps the most dangerous. The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest. This Chamber’s hold on the truth was finally lost on the Ghorman Plaza. What took place yesterday… what happened yesterday on Ghorman was unprovoked genocide! Yes! Genocide! And that truth has been exiled from this chamber! And the monster screaming the loudest? The monster we’ve helped create? The monster who will come for us all soon enough is Emperor Palpatine!”

          - dialogue from mon mothma’s senate speech in s2e9. do you truly still believe that the stories we tell don’t hold a mirror up to society? that media can be wholly apolitical?
