I was once a poet 
carving emotions 
like there's nothing 
feels right, 

I was once a poet
captive by depression, 
til darkness became a friend. 

I was once a poet
everything feels
nothing but heaviness. 

I was too desperate 
to ease the pain, 

til I met God there
He delivered me 
from thoughts and fear

I've been set free
and no longer slaves 
of such things.

and now-
I'm a poet writes for Jesus."
