There's a green-eyed boy who lives,
A thousand miles away.
I've never met him, only dreamt,
Of words he'll never say.
Somehow through the photographs,
His smile has blessed my heart.
Bringing laughter to my life,
No matter how far apart.
Perhaps I'll never touch him,
Never love his gentle ways.
Perhaps I'll never hold him,
And watch still nights turn into days.
But the smile in the photo,
One of pure, invincible joy,
Makes me believe that it's alright,
If I never meet my green-eyed boy.
As long as he is smiling,
In that lovely boyish way,
then I, too, can smile,
And I know I'll be okay.
