            ⠀ ⠀ “  let’s maybe keep your birds away from the cats  —  just to be safe.  i can deal with horses and chickens,  maybe a goat  ?  ”  the grin never left his face,  but he his voice was soft as if he was throughly thinking this through.  and,  he was honestly,  a life with xinyi would be a dream.  “  no pigs,  though.  don’t wanna live with another one.  ”

            "cats are definitely a need!  and then I already have my birds  —  we should get more of those.  cows  ,  horses  ,  and specifically fluffy chickens.  I've planned it all out."  xinyi had a very serious look on his face as he spoke.

@cntrlc- ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ dipper grinned,  the thought of them having a future together bring a blush to his cheeks.  “  what kind of pets  ?  ‘cause i was just thinking a cat or two.  but maybe i can be convinced.  ”

            ⠀ ⠀ their face fell with his heart,  tears welling up in his eyes.  “  to your  —  to your city  ?  ”  voice thick and quiet,  dipper reached for xinyi’s hand,  for any source of comfort to hold back the panic rising.  “  do you have to go  ?  how  —  for how long will you be gone  ?  ”

xinyi tilted his head up and gave a sad smile.  "no  ..  back to my city.  my dad they  —  they want him to come back."  his smile wavered.  "I don't want to go  —  I don't want an entire ocean to separate us  ..  "

            “  what  ?  ”  dipper’s brows furrowed,  he wants to pretend he didn’t hear him right.  that the dread that’s easing into him is just him overthinking.  “  like,  you have to go home in an hour  ?  i can walk you home.  ”

            ⠀ ⠀ “  aw,  you poor thing,  you’re starving.  ”  he slipped his hand into his,  bringing it to his lips for a gentle kiss.  his other hand threading through xinyi’s hair.  “  c’mon,  let’s get up ‘nd i’ll make you breakfast.  ”

xinyi moved to lay his head on dippers abdomen.  a finger moved to softly poke their cheek.  "very hungry.  I don't care what I eat  ..  as long as it doesn't have meat. I could eat an entire feast right now!  a whole buffet!"  he groaned loudly to add to the dramatics.

            he rubbed the sleep from his eyes,  a rare occurrence normally except when xinyi spends the night and dipper is actually forced to sleep.  “  hungry  ?  ”  he mumbles,  blinking his eyes open.  “  what d’you wanna eat  ?  ”
            
            *     xinyi says jump and dipper asks how high
