[ the fresh iron scent infiltrates her nostrils and her worry suddenly starts to overcome her.  julia is quick to aid the other,  carefully guiding her over to take a seat.  the dhampir notes the bloodied marks.  the couch is replaceable,  s͟h͟e͟ isn’t.  without a second thought,  julia takes off her jacket and presses it against her open wound. ]   yeah,  we did.  you did such a great job—-  remember what i said about burgers and milkshakes after?  we still need to do that.    [ the words come out as an attempt to keep her awake.  the pressure is enough to temporarily stop the bleeding but she knows there is more she needs to do. ]    hey,  hey—-  i need you to hold this right here,  okay?  can you do that?

            i… i shouldn’t be. [ was all she could muster for a moment, her head spinning. her hand presses against her side to examine the wound only to lose her balance at the amount of blood that came from only brushing her finger tips against her jacket. she holds onto the couch, gasping as she tries to make her way to the cushion, absentmindedly creating bloodied handprints on the couch but she was in too much pain to notice. she sits down, laying her head back on the couch. her eyes glow but only barely, feeling too weak for much of anything. ] we got him though, right?

[ it’d been a while since they spoke, perhaps a few centuries when the both of them wore different faces and the other’s realm was less challenged. ] i think it’s a bit more fun to be surprised— you do the same with your visits. as for rowan not being here, i thought you’d wanna see an old friend. 

bahh —- you  are  really  no  fun.   i’m  not  a  fan  of  surprises,    what’s  the  harm  in  spoiling  what’s  to  come?   (questions  were  uttered that were  more for  his entertainment  in seeing  the   gears spin  inside of    the  host,   rowan.    it  delighted   him to   see the    flashes of   merlin  in her    behavior —- in    her  mannerisms.   very  interesting)     but,   if   you  truly  wish to   harbor  your  /shared/    abilities   from me..   then   so  be it.   (teased   the devil,    followed  by   a shift    in his   stance and    a  sly tilt of   his head)    you’re   being  awfully   impolite.   scared to    face me?

            [ rowan’s eyes flashed just as soon as they heard the fluttering of wings. merlin refused to let her face him, shaking his head. though he didn’t want to make enemies of anyone, especially the leader of the nether realm; that didn’t mean he enjoyed the other’s presence. ] i think it’s best we let that remain a mystery, don’t you?

                      venus tilted her head to the side just a bit ,   analyzing the woman .     "   she didn't tell you ?   that's a surprise ,   i would have thought she'd be smart enough to warn you .   "     she laughed ,   the sound eerily hypnotic ,   before her purple hues came to meet rowan's .     "   oh ,   try to relax ,   why don't you ?   anxiety is a rather unpleasant smell .   yes ,   i'm fine ,   to answer your question .   i assume you have more ,   so spit them out .   "

            normally around venus, rowan felt safe, in spite of everything she assured merlin that he didn’t need to come out, but this time was different. her voice was less chippy and melodic; and though venus made a joke about it at times, the woman’s eyes trained on her as if she could hear her apart. her eyes flash golden, head tilting. “ venus— you look a bit different. are you alright? ” a different voice spoke out, gentle yet careful like prey wandering how quickly they’d need to run.

devon jumps up and down,  clapping her hands as she watches the debris fall to the ground.  her wide smile is proud but falters slightly when she realizes how close it was to crushing rowan.  “holy shit,  i’m so sorry  !”  she runs to her,  slightly panicked.  “are you okay ? i’m still learning how to control everything,  i’m sorry  !”

            rowan instantly ducked, covering her head to brace for impact as she dodged the rock that shattered into pieces beside her. she got up, meeting the eyes of the person who threw it and took it away from prevented it from fully pummeling her. breathless she forces a smile, swallowing in fear. “ wow, that was impressive! ” she nods, wiping the debris off her shoulder. “ how did that even happen—“

            [ rowan’s eyes narrow for a moment, her mind immediately going to ‘like superman?’ at the mention of the name before he explained. she was glad she didn’t say that part out loud. her lips part, in surprise, laughing softly with a nod. ] wow— yeah, actually. that part’s not usually something i know how to explain to people. i’m a host for merlin. it’s… complicated, but i guess if anyone would get it it’d be you, right?
