Hello, everyone!
It’s been a long and crazy month, but I do have exciting news. I am starting a writing challenge for the month of February: write 75% of my first draft. For me, that’s about 3500 words/day…which is a lot for someone who hasn’t established a writing routine. In other words, this month should be interesting.
As always, I preface this by saying this is a first draft. I do not have incredibly high expectations, however, I believe it is a good way to test out my material, writing style, genre, and characters to real people. This story is a but different than the one mentioned in my previous post. I am continuing on building my Fourth Wing inspired Adult Fantasy book.
I read Fourth Wing last July, and I was incredibly excited by the concept. However, the books fell a bit flat for me, and I felt like something was missing. So, I decided to start writing my own spice free, Christian-based book with mild inspiration from Fourth Wing. Meaning, the only things that are similar are the dragons, riders, and magic elements.
***This novel will follow the main protagonist, Constantine Everhart, who is struggling to keep what little family he has left afloat. Working odd jobs everyday while also making time to interact with his own family leaves him feeling burnt out and a bit resentful to the family members that abandoned Constantine, his father, and little twin sisters. Fortunately, one day Constantine will run into a Seeker, who sees his past and current struggles. This Seeker also knows Constantine will rise above the rest of his family. All the Seeker has to do is convince Constantine to help rebuild the once great Dragon Aviation Academy (name “To Be Determined”). Will Constantine be willing to take this leap of faith to save his family, or will he try running from his fate, potentially endangering his family?***
Hopefully, this small synopsis helps to explain a bit about what’s going on in this story. Sorry for the long post, but I hope you enjoyed.
