I had another idea. What if Hayley and Klaus had met earlier, and then a witch tried to curse Kalus, but she accidentally cursed Hayley as well. Because of this curse, they became human in the city they were in and couldn't leave. The only way to break the curse was to kill the witch who cast it. So they joined forces, but because they were human and had no abilities, it took them about a month to track down and kill her. During this time, they grew closer and forgot that Klaus was fertile as a human, which is why Hayley became pregnant. They learned this after the curse was broken, because she didn't transform during the full moon. They were afraid the child would be completely human due to the circumstances of its creation, so they didn't know that if she died during childbirth, she would return as a hybrid. The moment Hayley died, Klaus realized he couldn't live without her and raise his daughter alone. This all happens before the main plot, so Elijah doesn't know anything because they're arguing, and Dalia and Freya are still asleep because it hasn't been 99 years. When Klaus learns of Elena's existence and the possibility of breaking the curse, Hope is about 7 years old. The TVD plot unfolds practically the same, with slight differences, as Klaus doesn't want to put his girls in danger. The two only appear in town after all the siblings have been awakened and Esther returns, supposedly wanting to reunite the family. When Hayley and Hope enter their home and Klaus warmly greets his daughter, who is happy that her father is back as his wolf, everyone is shocked.
