@nearxlight Oh you're so right about "Bite" for them! I think "I'm a mess" is by Bebe Rexha. While it's not a perfect fit, I think of it as more so his thoughts and definitely something he wouldn't want to say out loud.

On another note, Taylor Swift’s new Showgirl album is not my favorite. However, two songs stick out to me.
1. “CANCELLED!” would unironically be Maverick’s anthem for obvious reasons.
2. I know we haven’t delved too far into Emery’s backstory, but “Father Figure” is so his arc.

Took a few years off writing Rhapsody, got married, settled down—and yet, I still can’t get Maverick and Emery out of my head. They really want their story told.
Two new chapters up now, with more to come in the near future!
Thank you to everyone who has commented and voted on this silly little story of mine. Although I haven’t appeared super active on here, rest assured I’ve read and cherished every single comment.
