QUEEN MARIA YOPPPP

@thesusiesjointz !!! I fell into my maria obsession after seeing the film Philadelphia with Denzel and Tom Hanks...that scene with tom and her singing la mamma morta in the background punched me in the GUT and I was done for right there #obsessed

(I also began diving into the 1905-1930s era of opera. So basically, she also started my 2 years of opera knowledge consumption *starry eyed emoji* it's such a beautiful form of art)

If conveying body language in your writing is a struggle for anyone, I highly recommend watching silent film and studying sculptures. Silent films make you focus on the way people move, the way they look at each other, the way they touch, all of that. (without overloading your brain with the spoken content that might intercept your idea)

And lmaoooo I'm not suggesting you go and find the choppiest silent 1890s film in existenceeeeee muting your favorite movie would give you the same outcome! Whenever I need to write a scene that's carried by body language and not dialogue, I love to stimulate that part of my mind by watching silent films *starry eyed emoji*

I'd really like to see more villainous supporting characters STAYING villainous! I wouldn't say it makes them flat or one-dimensional. Poorly written villain-ery would make them that, but a villain that drives the wickedness and upholds a sort of "i wanna reach through the screen and choke them" dynamic with the readers....wonderful

It's disappointing when an unapologetically nasty villain gets some rushed 3-chapter redemption arc because some of the audience complained their way into getting one it's okay to have a villain that's just a villain, don't get bullied into flushing your plot down the toilet by veering off into rushed redemptions

THIS !!! Not every villain needs a redemption arc to be a complex character. Just let them be evil, bro.

I AM ALMOST DONE with chapter 7, it's been taking me a while because I'm finally setting the scene for another supporting character's introduction....and this opens the door for the little mini-subplot I'm starting. I assessed my plotline, and there's plenty of space for one or two mini-subplots to happen that won't jumble up the main soup. I want my supporting characters fleshed out to allow the slow-burning drama speed to be tolerable lmaooo.
