@ thought corner,

. . . as someone who has joined many rps, made many rps and have previously written about the success of them, i'm once again sitting down to talk about roleplays (specifically warrior cats).

from my own experience with roleplays, those that work typically have a semi-solid structure. something that isn't too rigid, but has a strong enough basis that those joining can identify similar characteristics to the traditional clans. things like ranks, the prefix-suffix naming structure, and relatively traditional territories. when i say this, i meant that appliers want something familiar, mostly because if it's too dissimilar to the original books, then they aren't participating with the warrior cats material. so, a successful roleplay could be a semi-unique clan landscape, but the same rank structure, or a traditional forest but a different style of ranking. you have to balance the creativity with the norm.

another thing i've noticed is plot. plot-heavy roleplays never seem to work. from my experience, a roleplay with more of a follow-your-own-story plot works best, but there has to be a sort of recognisable beginning event that introductory comments can rely upon. this worked best in one of the first roleplays i joined Project Sea, where it was a murder mystery and slice of life.

but with that being said above. why?

like why is the line drawn between too unrecognizable to be successful and too standard to be interesting? why does the warrior cats community reward the idea of recognizability. it's not wholly a bad idea, i understand the profit of traditional clan rps, but i wonder why in the heart of the fandom it seems appliers are afraid of the deep end?

this isn't to attack anyone who wants to rp the traditional clans (i love a good standard clan rp, don't get me wrong). but it's just interesting to me.

if anyone gafs comment below your own thoughts.
