UPDATE #3 - January 8th 2023

A new year comes with new progress, and I must say this is a beautiful start.

I have just published the first part of a new online series called Easthaven, a story I have had on a backburner for quite a while. About half of the story was sketched out a year ago and I am happy to revitalize it, as life has revitalized my passion in writing. A number of things have slowed down my work, both personal and professional, but through all the troubles I have come out of it a definite workaholic, and I hope to build the story from the ground up alongside all of my readers.

The scheduling of this story and how often it will be updated is under the same conditions of my short stories, though I do find myself more interested in more expansive stories than little blots of creativity. I will be returning to college halfway through January under a new field than I am used to, and thus my time may be taken up by that as well as work, but I plan to put myself forward and make my dreams of becoming a successful author become a reality, no matter how much I will have to work for it.

I hope you all enjoy my work and stick around. You certainly won't be disappointed (and if you are, feel free to message me with your frustrations).

          	Until next time,
          	Payton (nekrxsys)

Thank you for sticking around during that absence. I hope your last semester isn't too brutal and that your internship has been going well.

@nekrxsys Glad to hear you're back! I myself, am also undergoing a career change. I'm still working full-time in the industry that I've spent the last decade in, but I'm also in school to pursue another profession as well. This is my last semester, so I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I look forward to your story, but I won't be able to start reading until my internship is done. (I'm on semi-hiatus right now as I'm juggling a massive workload). Good luck!

UPDATE #2 - November 19th 2022

Well, its been quite a while without anything new.

Life turned out to be even busier than I thought in the past few months. My Engineering major led to me having to balance an incredibly difficult Calculus class alongside a few others that took up my remaining time, and any other free time I had in a non-exhausted mind state was spent at work. However, I don't like to make excuses for lack of results, as it all comes down to me and my decisions, which I'll elaborate on in a bit.

I have dropped Calculus and my other Engineering class and changed my major to Business Administration. I've realized that no matter what I decide to do in college, it will not be what I want to do with my life; what I want to do is write and become a successful author, and balancing out an Engineering degree alongside that is impossible. From now on, writing is put at the forefront of my tasks, and it will stay that way.

Another reason for a lack of posting is also my writing habits/scheduling. Currently, I have three big projects I work on every other day (four if you count the completed one that needs revisions), and I find much more pleasure in writing a big expansive story over a short and simple one. But writers must write to get good at it, so I have been making an effort to work on at least one short story a month. Maybe I'll come up with some actual deadlines for myself in order to keep things flowing, but we'll see what happens.

For now, I have a new short story I have been working on that will be posted right after I post this update. It will found under my Anthology collection. I also want to mention a bigger project I will be working on, which will be a full novel with a chapter posted every month or other month. This will likely begin at the start of the new year, and I am more than excited to put this story to ink. Well, virtual ink, for now.

          Until next time,
          Payton (nekrxsys)

UPDATE #1 - September 24th 2022

Hello to everyone, or rather anyone reading this.

I decided to make it a point to post updates on the progress of any and all of my works on a routinely basis, as a way to keep everyone up to speed as well as to keep my account from looking completely dead. I am still a writer at heart, it just so happens I have a lot of other responsibilities that keep me from pumping out work after work, as much as I'd love to do so. So if you see that there hasn't been a new short story or a new chapter in a while, I'm probably not dead. Just busy.

With that being said, I am very excited to start posting on this platform more and share/practice my writing, as I would like to make a career out of this passion of mine sometime in the future. It is also a whole lot more rewarding to post here and get almost immediate attention and feedback rather than send out manuscripts to publishers with equal silence from all of them. In this way I can also get my ideas out a lot quicker and still have the chance to make something of them in the future, as long as someone is interested in it.

I have a large backlog of ideas and stories currently being written, of various lengths and expansions. Short stories will be the format most commonly seen, as my biggest passion projects are book length or even longer. So hopefully you all will get the chance to see them on this website sooner than later, though I still want to put in as much time into them as possible so that they are the best they can be. I am a perfectionist after all.

That being said, I have a couple of short stories I am working on that I will hopefully be publishing within the next few weeks, as well as going through a book I had finished about a year back. I will continue to try to get it published before posting it here, but if the latter happens, that's perfectly fine with me.

          Until next time,
          Payton (nekrxsys)
