So, I was just re-watching Tony Stark's Nuke Into Space scene in the first Avengers movie, and, the return fall back to NYC obeys NONE of the laws of Physics and I've noticed it before, but I just had to make sure. I mean, he's in space, and according to Newton's First law of motion states: "Every object in a state of motion will remain in that state of motion unless an external force acts on it." So, answer me this: If Tony Stark was flying with the nuke, blasters on full power, how does his suit shutting down and NOT exerting a force to push him back down to Earth, allow him to return to Earth in the first place? If he is to return to Earth, there MUST be an external force that pushes him in the opposite direction of the nuke, otherwise he'd continue going.
Now, I have only TWO theories as to why this happens that could SOMEWHAT support his falling back to Earth with no external force pushing him back to do so.
1) Through the portal, Earth's gravity can still pull Tony through because it is basically a portal through Earth's atmosphere into wherever in space the Chitauri were stationed.
2) The portal ITSELF had a gravitational pull that allows the Chitauri to move through it faster by pulling objects within a certain radius of it closer to it. Hence how it pulled Tony back down to Earth.
OTHERWISE, I have no clue as to how Tony was able to be brought back down to Earth while STILL obeying Sir. Isaac Newton's Laws of Motion.
Please feel free to comment your own opinions on the matter and debate this with me.
