I'm sorry that I have been MIA for a bit. I was finishing up my college degree and then COVID hit. But I had to come on here and address my thoughts regarding the events currently taking place across the U.S.
My heart is heavy. I have been struggling to put into words exactly how I feel about the events that are going on in this country. I am angry. I am so so angry. It is 2020 and history is repeating itself in full force. George Floyd has become another name on the long list of black individuals who have been needlessly murdered by law enforcement. Peaceful protests are being thrown into chaos by overzealous cops and counter-protesters. News outlets are choosing to only cover the resulting looting and rioting, thus overshadowing and delegitimizing the very purpose as to why these protests were held. I may not be black but I see you, I hear you, and I stand in solidarity with you. A change must be made.
There’s a link in my bio for ways all of us can help. I'm also linking it here as well.
