Hello everyone I’m currently work on a story where one of the supporting characters is a Born and raised Trinidadian who had moved to Ontario,Canada and lived there for a while then moved to a small town in Georgia called, Kettleville. She has a thick Canadian accent and also speaks in patios ( pot-wah) (broken english. I.E.: A wa gwan= whats going on?). I know that each dialect has their own phrases and words that are used throughout everyday conversation. And I want to add those different dialects within her dialogue however, I don’t want to be stereotypical, or corny or cheesy in my approach. I want it to be authentic and realistic. What should I do? If I can get someone who is from southern USA, Trinidad, and/or Ontario or someone from each, then it well be preferable or someone/someones who understand these dialects or a linguist. Thanks and God Bless.
