Last little spoiler fort the new book TOMORROW!!

Fifteen years and nine months had passed since that day. The day she had made the choice that haunted her, that twisted itself into the fabric of her every moment. It had been a decision made with a broken heart, with fingers trembling from fear and guilt, but it had been made nonetheless. Elizabeth stared out of the window of her apartment, watching the rain streak down the glass in erratic patterns, mirroring the chaos in her mind.

She had thought time would dull the pain, that it would fade into something manageable, something she could keep at bay. But it hadn't. The ache for Olive, the baby girl she had held only once in her arms, had grown sharper with each passing year, each milestone that Elizabeth had missed. She had missed so much. Birthdays. First words. First steps. Prom. Graduation.

She closed her eyes, as though trying to block out the years, and for a moment, she was back in that hospital room. The sterile smell, the quiet hum of machines, the weight of the tiny bundle in her arms..

          	Her daughter.

She had named her, whispered it to her as though it could somehow make up for the emptiness of the moment.. Her heart still squeezed when she thought of it. There had been so much love there, but it had been overshadowed by the dark circumstances of her conception, the fear and trauma that had threatened to swallow her whole.

And yet... it was still the hardest thing she'd ever done. Saying goodbye to her own flesh and blood. Leaving her behind for someone else to love and raise, someone who could give her a life Elizabeth couldn't. It had felt like the only choice, but now—now it felt like a betrayal she could never undo.

Saturday in part 1 of 'echoes in silence':

The door opened again, and the nurse entered with a warm smile. "Are you ready, Elizabeth?"

Elizabeth nodded, though her throat felt tight, her words stuck behind the swell of emotion. She looked down at Olive one last time, brushing a strand of dark hair from her forehead. The baby's skin was soft, impossibly smooth, and her tiny lips trembled slightly in her sleep.

"Olive," Elizabeth whispered, as though the name could carry all the love she felt in this brief moment, as though it could seal the bond between them. She pressed a gentle kiss to Olive's forehead, her lips lingering there, unwilling to let go. "I'm so sorry."

But the nurse cleared her throat softly, and Elizabeth knew it was time. Her hands, trembling now, passed the baby over to the nurse, who wrapped the little girl securely in her blanket, her face kind but understanding.

As the nurse walked toward the door, Elizabeth's heart broke open. The finality of it—the sharp weight of her decision—settled on her like a leaden cloak. She could barely breathe as she watched them leave, carrying Olive away from her.

The door clicked shut, and the room felt impossibly empty.

@nienwrites OMG this is so good. I can't wait to read it.

Question on Second Changes. In some of the earlier chapters of this book, for example chapters 4 & 8, you hint at some things in Scarlett's past. Will you or do you plan on exploring or elaborating on them in the future? In part 2 perhaps? I'm quite interested/curious to learn more.

SATURDAY MARCH 8TH (5PM CET): NEW BOOK ALARM
(THIS BOOK WILL BE UPLOADED EVERY SATURDAY & TUESDAY AT 5PM CET)

Echoes of Silence tells the heartbreaking and hopeful story of Elizabeth and Olive, a mother and daughter separated by tragedy and longing to find each other again.

Elizabeth, at almost 20, gives birth to Olive in 2009 under devastating circumstances. Olive is the result of violence, and while Elizabeth loves her more than anything, the trauma and fear of being a young, unprepared mother lead her to give Olive up for adoption. She convinces herself it's the best decision, but the weight of that choice never leaves her. Fifteen years later, Elizabeth is married to Robbie, who supports her through everything, but the ache of not knowing what happened to Olive eats away at her. She decides to search for her daughter, no matter the cost.

Meanwhile, Olive has grown up in the foster care system, shuffled between homes that were supposed to protect her but often did the opposite. She's been hurt, silenced, and left feeling like she's nothing but a problem nobody wants. Olive doesn't speak anymore-it's her way of keeping the world out, of staying safe. She pours everything into her art and her diary, writing letters to a mother she barely remembers but can't forget.

Elizabeth's search is heartbreaking, full of dead ends and moments where she almost gives up. When she learns about Olive's painful past, her guilt becomes unbearable, but it also fuels her determination. Olive, on the other hand, is unsure if she even wants to be found. The silence she's lived in for years feels safer than letting someone in.

As their stories move closer together, Echoes of Silence becomes a raw, emotional journey about love, loss, and the hope of being seen and heard-even in the darkest moments. Will they find each other, or will the silence keep them apart forever?
