I've decided to self-publish the first two arcs on amazon. I'll probably work towards a better laptop that can handle the load of their on-board cover editor, and go from there. As for what happened to the recent three chapters I published...

The book clocks out at 264 pages with the first two parts alone. Not wanting to overwhelm my readers, I'm deciding to publish the first two arcs, then work on arcs 3 and 4 to close out this part of the series. Originally, it was going to be 4 books that might lead into a sequel series if I felt like the series had enough momentum to keep going. Realizing the actual length of these first two arcs was enlightening, to say the least.

So, some stuff I wanted to throw out there that nobody asked about.

          	1) Who did I love writing for?

Kai. I'm a bit of a cynic myself, so writing for someone whose experiences mirror my own was really enjoyable. Misa is a close second. Her entire arc has yet to resolve, but I love putting her through the worst stuff just to get a better character from it.

          	2) Who did I least like writing for?

Klaus is a strong contender, but Sera takes the top spot. Not even that it's hard, but writing someone with as much baggage as her while keeping details hidden was basically me trying to pull a Dio on my readers. "You thought it was a Shingan Inquisitor? It was I, Dio!"

          	3) Who is the fourth Divine Lord?

Should be obvious to those who did read the (now unpublished) chapters. To those who did, shh.

          	4) How much of this is you using google to translate and such?

Basically all of the non-English words are google-fu on display. I didn't want just random attempts, but actual words whose translated meanings applied literally.

So, that's it for now. I'm going to finish getting the first 5 chapters reformatted and published. I'll post my amazon link when it's ready!

Shorter chapters this week...

I started a new job a couple weeks ago, right in the middle of writing chapter 25. I was then too exhausted to do much for a time. I had planned to possibly sit down on Saturday and push out a couple of chapters with a more formal apology, but then something happened. My arms started to hurt worse than was tolerable.

I wish I could chalk it up to being unused to the kind of work that caused the pain, but I can't. The sensations were so intense that I finally bit the bullet and went to the hospital. Even despite testing my threshold, the doctors fell back on trusting the X-Ray's and said things look fine. I'm gonna level with you all: I think people who accuse the medical field of being out for making money more than saving lives have a few screws loose. I, however, have experienced incompetence in the field both personally, and as a witness to.

I'm off the work schedule for now, until a Kinesis Clinic gets back to me. What comes of that, we'll have to see. I'm hopeful it's just a matter of building strength in my arms, and going from there. For now, though, I'm planning to back to a semi-regular period of writing.

          Now, about this next arc...

I had been contemplating how to introduce the next member of our cast. I wanted to wait until they all arrived at the commune, but the thing with Dalmond and Angelus was going to be a multi-part arc that explained why Angelus could do that thing when he wasn't like his son. Call it a kind of foreshadowing for bigger things, if you will.

So, the new character is going to be introduced in this next arc, instead. He'll be an Esper, obviously. I also want to develop Kai a bit more, so this is definitely a Kai arc.

Anyways, I'm off for now. Catch you all later!

Four chapters in one update?! You'd better believe it! With this, we are back on track for our weekly updates! I do want to go over a few things about this last arc, as well. As I mentioned before, the previous arc had an ending I didn't like. I think that's just the nature of the beast, in trying to write a conflict to end an arc on. I wanted to present the group as capable, even if outmatched. Having Misa win the day was a moment of pride for me, even if she does come off as a bit more the Sakura-archtype than I'd like.

Secondly, I hated writing for Klaus. I think getting the mannerisms of the character down in conjunction with his overall design was essential, but it definitely sucked whenever he was in a scene and I had to give him lines. I did intend for him to play the role he has, so hopefully that translates well.

          "What about the machine?"

I know I foreshadowed it a bit, and as I went over the how's and why's, I began wondering if it would be worth having it be part of the arc finale. I know a good writer uses the hunting rifle they introduce in the third chapter, but as I kept going, I realized that the narrative was better served if I simply "forgot" about it.

"Sera said x and it seems really obvious! Stop treating us like idiots!"

Believe me, she's not. Whatever you're thinking, you're wrong. In fact, any of the unlikely answers you just came up with, those are wrong, too.

"Your power system seems a bit inconsistent. Edric faints after shocking someone in one scene, yet barely feels a yawn in another."

Part of the problem I found in describing it to a friend is that, if someone is skilled enough, their upper limits scale accordingly. Having an ability like Senti's is different from Edric's, though, and I plan to explore it further. I know I've done infodump dialogue already, but I feel like the difference in scaling needs to be properly explained."

Anyways, that's all. Check back next wednesday for a new chapter!

What's up, people?

So, big things. First and foremost, my days have opened up substantially. This means I can do more writing, which means every day up to Wednesday, I'm planning a new chapter or two. I've already got the end of this arc figured out, so it's a matter of putting pen to paper. I'm hoping we'll be up to the end of the arc by Tuesday, with space enough to change things that I'm uncertain about before the podcast on Wednesday. Now, if you would like to listen to the podcast, let me know!

Otherwise, expect five more chapters by Wednesday!

About Chapter 20-2: Electric Boogaloo...

I haven't written a word. Things have been pretty hectic lately and, as a result, I've had little to no time to sit down and get in the mindset. I feel like I might be able to do a bit of writing after the weekend, but don't anticipate anything for at least another week after that. I've thinking around the end of the month, I'll have the five chapters done, ready to ship. As things are, though, it's still a bit hectic and I've got some stuff this weekend that requires my focus. Apologies to everyone who might have been hoping that I would be putting out a bunch of chapters next Wednesday.

About Chapter 20...

It will be postponed. A side thing related to my rl requires my full attention for the next 2-3 weeks. Just as well, since I'm trying to figure out my next 5 chapters, Dalmond's newest "adventure" included. The problem I have been having is a bit of dissatisfaction with how the first arc ended. I don't really want to rewrite it since (imo) everything else is fine. The follow-up explanation Kai gives feels a bit pazy, too, but the rest feels alright.

I don't want to repeat the mistakes of the first arc by making a character over-the-top goofy or having one of the protagonists simply win because another protagonist communicated in a questionable way or something else. Also, Sylvia's power is gonna need to be neutered somehow, and having her suddenly develop the control feels cheap.

I am thinking of simply doing up a bunch of chapters and dumping them next Wednesday, or the Wednesday afterwards, to line up with the podcast I am a co-host for. Obviously, I'll let you all know Friday what that's gonna look like.
