"You always smile like you're about to cry."

That made her smile. That one little statement, one small moment in time made her smile. And she supposed that was the irony of it. The irony, the beauty, the fall.

How does one smile like they're about to cry? What does it look like? How do you know? Is it the quiver of their lips? The shine in their eyes? Or the way the smile never leaves their mouth?

The answer was truly simple. A person smiles like they're about to cry when they are actually crumbling inside. When they want to be alone, or to scream and shout. When they want to sob, and let all of the hate, the frustration out.

A person will smile when they are about to cry because they need to be strong. And one way to convince people they are strong when they are broken inside, is smiling. But she couldn't voice all this. Not yet.

          	Not to him.

So instead, she smiles and said,

          	"Do I?"
