I'm in the midst of heavily editing Disrupt Me
What do y'all think about a little sister for Cyrus and Zayn? About the age of five?

oceanmoth

@gilded8lily Thank you, dear < 3 That really does mean a lot

And yes! I don’t want my characters to be just there for plot purposes but have them be flawed and human with messy feelings and complicated relationships. Their relationships with each other really are what make this story tick.

...Said that, I do have an emotional assassination of everybody coming up soon. I apologize ahead of time. (Not really.)

@oceanmoth Ayla is adorable. (≧∇≦)ノ

Also, thank you for confirming Arian and Azalea are staying twins because their dynamic is *way* too good to change.

And honestly? I'm a sucker for emotional depth. That's probably what I'm looking forward to most. I love when characters are allowed to be complicated and imperfect instead of just moving the plot along. Give me messy sibling dynamics, unresolved feelings, inner conflict... all of it. Those relationships and emotional struggles are what make a story unforgettable to me, even if you're about to emotionally assassinate your readers.

Also, knowing how well you write mental health and complicated emotions, YOU'RE GONNA EAT!

@gilded8lily Exactly!! Just imagine a little sister—she'd be adorable. I've already picked out the name Ayla for her.

I'm also leaning towards keeping Cyrus and Zayn as fraternal twins. I think that dynamic suits them best.

And don't worry—I could never change Arian and Azalea. I'm far too attached to them. They're heavily inspired by both me and my twin brother, so they'll always have a special place in the story.

I'm also planning to delve much deeper into their emotional lives—their relationships with one another, their inner conflicts, and everything that shapes them. Fair warning, though... it isn't exactly cheerful.

Those four little weirdos occupy my thoughts every single day, so they're not going anywhere

I was about 10 when I read the first book of Shatter Me, and I'm not exaggerating when I say Aaron Warner was probably my first love. I still remember the exact moment he called Juliette "love" and just knew, with the unwavering conviction of a fifth grader, that this was The One. Re-reading the series as a teenager was fucking life changing, like meeting a celebrity you'd built up in your head for years and somehow being even more starstruck. I'm aware Aaron isn't exactly Pulitzer material, but emotional impact doesn't care about literary merit. He shaped a genuinely formative chunk of my life, dramatic as that sounds.

@oceanmoth Yep, I totally agree with you, I read shatter me in 6th grade and I fell in love Aaron Warner was my second love after Kai Azer since I read powerless first but hearing about watch me the new series coming out I got so happy and it's changed my teenage years

my spirit animal is me in the midst of a creating-a-moodboard episode. i’ll be sitting there acting like a world class curator, being hypocritical with my own vision.

like do you ever reach that point where you’re squinting at the screen, trying to balance the "too bright" and "too dark" zones like it’s a high stakes art restoration?

i’ll lit be talking to myself like:

"okay, the negative space here is offensive, let’s move this elsewhere"

"absolutely not, we can’t have three close up shots in the same quadrant, they’ll suffocate each other"

"fuck, now the right side is a crowded mess and the left side looks like a ghost town."

          anyone else do this?

          : )

oceanmoth

@kaepability NO I WAS GETTING PISSED AT HER FOR THAT TOO

kaepability

@reikoandgardenias no bc remember when we were making ocean moodboards that time after school holidays?? I felt this EXACT same way then. And is it wrong of me to get pissed that Hana's moodboard looked unaesthetic? No, it is not

sobbing. I truly delight in writing from cyrus's point of view. he says so little, notices so much, and loves so deeply. makes his inner world so compelling

kaepability

@reikoandgardenias in a shatter me wp fanfic space of grumpy men, cyrus is a breath of fresh air

Pathognosis combines the Greek roots pathos (feeling or suffering) and gnosis (knowledge)

I chose this name for Azalea’s power because it represents the burden of knowing. While she has the ability to know exactly what everyone else is feeling, the connection is so intense that their emotions become her own. It eventually stops feeling like a "gift" of insight and starts feeling like a form of personal suffering
