⠀⠀⠀⠀ shouldn’t you be with your son? he needs you more than anyone else.

burningift

⠀⠀⠀⠀ of course i’m here. the lighthouse is RIGHT THERE, in case you forget that i live there. god forbid i expect you to be with your son and not on the goddamn beach, although that’s my fault. you’re /always/ at this fuckin’ place. [she curls her knees into her chest, her arms wrapping around them.]

            * the words she threw at him didn't even cause the god to flinch. why would they? taking words personally from a human was not something he had ever worried about * Maybe it isn't my problem, but here you are anyway. You made that choice for the both of us.

⠀⠀⠀⠀ do you only know ocean terminology? if so, it makes a lot of fuckin’ sense. [she knows that she isn’t fine, she’s not an idiot. she’s just trying to get him to GO AWAY.] then let me drown in it, it’s not your problem.

⠀⠀⠀⠀ can i join you on your walk today? and can we maybe stop by the lighthouse too? (:

⠀⠀⠀⠀ [hallie hops up and down in excitement, but it’s only once before she’s shaking her head.] nope, i don’t need a bag! i won’t take much if anything, but i’ll happily look at all the pretty things! i don’t want to take all of her things, even if she washed them up to shore anyway. plus, i have to help you carry your pretty shells!

            * that was more than enough for her. she was a good kid and he knew she'd follow his request without hesitation. at least she was easy enough to keep safe from some of the dangers that lurked out there * That's all I ask. Come on then. Let us go see what sort of things have washed up along the shore. Bring a bag, if you'd like. I'm sure there will be plenty of things to see.

⠀⠀⠀⠀ i will not venture out into the ocean without you with me, grandfather. [the promise would be kept on her head. if there was one thing that her father—- his own son—- taught hallie, it was that promises must be kept. she would take that to her heart, no matter what. so yes, the promise to her grandfather would never be broken. that, and he was the only reason she ever wished to be near the ocean in the first place.] i promise.

⠀⠀⠀ if you’re here to give me a lecture, i really don’t want to—- what are you doing here?

I can multi-task, something my son can't do. But you are correct. I might as well say goodbye now * he gave her a cheerful little wave, turning back around to head off on his task, not at all concerned by her words. He'd always figured she was a bit of a prickly one. This only proved that point *

⠀⠀⠀ [she stops, but unfortunately for njord, it is NOT to hear about how old he is and how he’s lived with the humans for however many years he did. she turns towards him, her hands shoved into her pockets, and raises a brow.] aren’t you supposed to be shopping for my boss instead of telling me tales, because she thinks you don’t get as distracted as your son? unfortunately for her, i think i’m starting to see where he gets it from. [oh, how she hopes that’s enough for him to just go about the rest of his day.]

Oh, they do have some wonderfully interesting things in those places * he mused, a grin splitting across his face * Though I can't say I'm a fan of the crowds. You really have only been hanging out with gods like Thor and Freyr, haven't you? You do realise some of us are old, very old and we have seen a great deal of your world. A lot of us have lived as humans among you for some time. But I suppose you don't want to hear about all of that. * did he deliberately dangle that information out towards her? quite possibly *
