Preview of my new book, Curveball.
"That's why her dad left." The girl whispers. Now, I have three ways to react to this. One, punch her in the mouth, that'll get her to shut up. Two, stare her down and walk away, the best way to intimidate her without saying anything. Or three, give her a piece of my mind, intimidate her by saying something. One would get me in trouble, two is too subtle. So three, it is.
I'm just going to put this out there. We've all seen stories like this. Girl likes baseball. Girl isn't accepted. Bullies, insecurities, boy/girl problems, blah, blah, blah. But what if I told you that this story is different? And based on a true story. My story.
Oriana Jimenez has never fit in with the crowd (she stopped trying to a long time ago). But as long as her mother was in the picture, she never felt she could truly...be herself. Now that's only one obstacle. A crazy ex, a hot teammate, and a chaotic best friend. The perfect recipe for a high school cliche. But you know what they say; you can't always control who walks into your life, but you can control which window to throw them out of.
Warning(s): Coarse language, mental illness, and lots and lots of angst
