Vent time:
Why do people, especially teenagers, think it’s a fun idea to bang on people’s door?
On Friday, when I was in my room doing some homework, I heard a bang. Me thinking that my dad fell from his recliner, I called out from my room and asked if he was okay, then I got up from my desk and went to check on my dad after not getting a response. When I was at my door, I heard my mom ask ‘why just our house?’
When I was in the living room, I see the front door open and my parents tell me that this kid just banged on the door and took off.
On Monday, my parents were doing something at that time, the same kid and his friend came back and banged on the door very loudly. They did it twice within minutes of each other.
Me, not thinking in that moment it’s the same kid, I thought that someone was breaking in and I freaked out. I called my parents and I asked if I call the police. I had a panic attack and started crying, to which they tell me ‘why are you crying?’, by not only the police dispatcher but from my dad as well.
My first thought isn’t that it’s some kids having a ‘fun’ time by banging on the door, my first thought is someone might be breaking in and I’d like to think that my reaction at the time was somewhat justified.
What do you all think?
