Hi! Just a random paragraph that's too short to post anywhere else:
          	'Her hands are shaking, fingers numb, limp. Lifeless. Desperation has taken over her features, leaving them dull and flat. She may as well be dead already. Curled up, she is small, vulnerable, insignificant to the world that never saw her. Eyes closed, she imagines what it's like to be warm, to be happy, to be loved. Those wistful pictures in her mind are the closest she'll ever get. She watches her breath cloud the air, there for a mere second before vanishing, abandoning her like all everyone else. How much longer will she be breathing at all, she wonders. She doesn't know. She doesn't even care. Not anymore.'

@sandydragon1 You're very welcome! I loved the first chapter - you really make the reader care about Alice and sympathise with her situation, while at the same time setting the scene for the whole book, which can be hard to do in only one short chapter!
