These Cages We Build For Ourselves is now complete, and the first chapter of my next book, One Day Closer, is now up!
These Cages is about a lonely werewolf and an icy autistic wizard who meet on a MMORPG.
One Day Closer is another one of my autism romance hurt/comfort slice of life books. This one is about two boys who meet on the beach while one is on holiday.
Read one of these books, maybe, if you want to!

I just read your story „These Cages We Build For Ourselves“ and I loved it!!! I read it in every free second I could manage and was very invested.
I was wondering if you thought about writing a book for Gale and Thoma? I would love to know how Gales life proceeds after all the events.
You are one of my favorite authors!
@overlordpotatoe I'm really glad !!! I love all of your stories, I was wondering about Gale and Thoma, take your time, your stories are always worth it
@verblassttt Thank you! I do definitely have a plan for how that would go and I left that thread loose on purpose, but when I was writing little bits of different story ideas, including that one, the new book I just started posting is what ended up really taking off. I've got to follow whatever grabs me if I want to be productive, so I guess the answer is not right now, but maybe at some point in the future. There's a lot of fun to be had with a road trip book in a fantasy world.

Hello there! Just want to tell you that I really loved reading Silence Says. It's not a very long story, but the pacing is just right and the characters are wonderful.
I wanted to ask you, if you're interested, would you consider publishing your story as an official work? I work for a publishing house that partners with authors here on wattpad to turn their stories into official works. I see that many people love Silence Says and we'd love to give you the opportunity to make official e-book and paperback versions available for it.
If you would like to know more details, please check us out at this link: https://publishwithtwp.carrd.co/
Looking forward to hearing from you! :)
Yes, it is indeed as you say, publishing houses typically require authors to remove the source work from wattpad because Amazon or other e-commerce websites might inadvertently flag the published version. In our case, authors are asked to remove only a portion of the story on wattpad, so some of the chapters can remain available. We understand if this may not be suitable for you, other authors have also had the same issue. Anyway, thanks for letting us know and good luck on your future works! In case you change your mind, feel free to get in touch with us.
@somewhatnocturnal Thank you! I have self published a few of my books, but I prefer to edit up a polished version to publish and keep the original for free. I suspect that's not something most publishers would be okay with.
You can now read the edited versions of my books through Kindle Unlimited if you have that: https://www.amazon.com/stores/R.A.-Armstrong/author/B098W3VPRM I should have done this from the start, but I didn't understand how it worked. Do I understand now? Only sort of, but that's fine.
I'm so excited about this!! I was daydreaming this weekend, about having your books literally on my shelve.. how of I would win a large sum of money, I'd make sure you get the chance to have them all printed and I'd buy them all including copies for my family
@Cherrybomb_17 Being Wrong, It Takes Two, and Getting a Clue. I do a pretty deep edit for the ebook versions, so it takes me quite a while to get them done. Currently slowly working my way through edits for A Wall Between.
I'm deep in the editing mines, feeling lonely, so I'm here to share an excerpt from the edited version of A Wall Between. It's an extremely long book to the point that I'm starting to wonder if I should maybe even split it into two books for the ebook version. Anyway, here you go:
“Here we go,” Cooper said, setting the supplies down on a clean-ish bit of stairs. “I’ll help you clean up.”
The guy nodded. No words, just a stiff little motion. Cooper didn’t blame him. He’d been shy even when not clearly on the verge of emotional collapse, so Cooper could only imagine how much he was struggling now. He wouldn’t even look at Cooper. Though, come to think of it, he hadn't really made eye contact much last time either. Maybe that was just his thing.
Cooper found himself oddly charmed by it. By him. His quirks were different from Cooper’s own, sure, but still familiar somehow. It was like they were two dogs in a world of cats. Cooper, maybe a golden retriever, all enthusiasm and zero chill. And this guy… he was more like a nervous rescue mutt. Big eyes, cautious movements, the kind of dog that didn’t bite but definitely flinched.
Despite their differences, there was something about being around him that just felt... right. Cooper had felt it within seconds of meeting him, like some internal tuning fork had gone ping. It made his insides go all warm and fluttery in a way he didn’t know what to do with yet, but he wasn’t exactly complaining.
But for now, they had a mess to clean up.
@JemellaF Great! My username is the same on there. I have to go walk my dogs now because they're starting to riot, but I'll be back in an hour if you're still around.
Hello,nice histories
Only came here to say even tho I've only binged it takes two, and half of a wall between, STOP BEING SO GOOD AT WRITING GRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHYHHH
Hello, I just wanted to say that I read your story "being wrong" 4 years ago and I haven't forgotten it since. It really helped me and It inspired me to write my own story. I really love reading your work and you're my favourite Author on Wattpad. Thank you so much for motivating me with your words :)
(Continuation of the previous post) … or the yearning for someone than it is when I read about sexual activities with other people. To me, the arousal, or the yearning for someone, is more relatable than some kissing or some actual sexual intercourse since I don’t have any own experience of that.
Probably, what I said would properly be an opinion of mine rather than actually being a lack of authenticity.
Have I managed to enlighten what I mean? Otherwise, please re-ask and I will have another try to explain.
Okay, I see, concerning the status of your stories. Now I have read your published parts! Would you like to get some comments from me? Shall I put them along the story, or shall I say something briefly here? Don’t worry; the story is mostly well-written, it seems realistic, and, above all, it’s well portraying the life of being autistic, so I really appreciated reading it and I do encourage you to continue writing when you have time for that!
Regardless of whether you wish to get some comments, or not, I have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised by the fact that both boys in your story are autistic. To me, it’s always been hard to initiate and maintain some kind of friendship (not to mention relationship) with other people; interestingly, this is especially true regarding any kind of relationship with autistic people. When my lacking skills of (expected) social behaviour meet the lacking skills of someone else, there’s no good fertile soil for further development of the relationship; then we’re both clumsy, quiet and so on. So, your story is very interesting! Furthermore, I’ve realized that my only interest in truly getting to know people is when I’m attracted to them, and, of course, the general autistic weakness of socializing is not at all assisted by feelings of attraction.
However, as I said, I did appreciate reading your published parts and I’m looking forward to reading some continuation, when you have time to achieve that. Good luck with your writing!
Now it's my turn to not receive any notifications …
@a-boy-who-likes-boys: Thank you for your answer! However, now I am somewhat off guard. What did I do to get this reaction from you? Have I been clumsy? Did I make a fool of myself? I might have done. I do really dislike the disadvantages of being autistic.
However, I think you might have misunderstood the intention of my original reply in this thread; you were talking about the lack of authenticity in “the way that boys interact and speak to each other and our manners of expressing emotions with each other” in many stories, and I was talking about the lack of authenticity in having stories that include descriptions of sexual intercourse without any mention of the erection or some sexual arousal elsewhere in the story. Thus, we were talking about different things, and the thing we had in common was the disapproval of the lack of authenticity. So, I wasn't primarily referring to your thoughts of interacting and relationships; I was referring to what I, myself, saw as a lack of authenticity, as a comment to your statement of what you see as a lack of authenticity. Then I figured that the absence of descriptions of erection, when there already are sexual scenes in the story, might be a result of the writer being a woman who doesn't really have her own bodily awareness of the erection, so yes, in this (perhaps faulty) case I was “inspired” by what you said of women “not understanding certain things about men”, but, again, this wasn't primarily referring to your statement; it was an independent further development of my own thoughts. Thereto, I shall admit that it was an (unsuccessful?) attempt to make some further connection to your thoughts.
Of course, a well-written story is not dependent on the sexual content. However, since I am entirely inexperienced regarding romantic relationships and sexual activities with other people, to me, the joy of recognition is greater when I read about sexual arousal (to be continued).
@I-am-a-Swede I did actually write and publish a lot of stories at the beginning of the year but some of my friends gave me some constructive feedback on how I could improve them. So I started to rewrite what I had already written but then I got incredibly busy this year and didn't find time to republish anything. Until today when I republished a bit of my old story from March. I'm hoping to write a bit more in December and January next year.
Just read It Takes Time and damn have you done it again! Another masterpiece (and tear jerker). Your books never fail to bring me a bit of peace after miserable day.
No worries! I just reread the last chapter of a Wall between and gah it’s as gorgeous as ever, kinda devastated it’s ended, but i’m honestly just glad it exists.
@FearsomeQueersome Thank you! I'm glad they're able to brighten your day a little bit. Sorry it took me so long to respond. Wattpad hasn't been doing email notifications for a bit.
