hello, lovelies! i'm back with another poem for my poetry book pal·pi·ta·tions. give it a little lookie if you wanna!
for this poem, one of you guys commented your interpretation of the poem:
"Okay, so this is probably just me, but i feel like an old lady wrote this. like 67-year-old widow whose husband was abusive. and she knew him when they were young and they started dating, got married, the high school sweetheart thing. but as they grew together, he started mocking her profession and being overly dominant and didn't want kids and was verbally abusive. nevertheless, she loved him to a fault. so in the valediction, she says "we," but her friends and family knew from the beginning how bad the relationship could get. she remembers him as this great man and only dwells on his harsher qualities for but a moment. even in death, he has some sort of spell on her that she can't quite shake."
thanks @bluenovellas for the cool interpretation
how did you interpret it? leave it in the comments : )
