I think the point of being a writer is to see the world in someone else's point of view, not justs yours. If I only wrote stories about a character that resembles myself ( A weird caramel-loving, music-listening girl) it would be boring. Like, I know how to write how my characters view this world, I can write about the thoughts of a bitter girl, or a shy or insecure girl. But the thing is, i'm really none of those things. But I known how to capture the world like that. I can write a picture like that so readers actually feel the characters emotions. (I might post one of my books on WattPad one day, who knows. But groan...its so hard to find sexy covers these days)
