I was born in a strange place at a strange time, given a strange name and a frequently absurd upbringing...

I'm the oldest of 8 children in a blended family. Four parents with just about an even split. I have three sisters and four brothers ranging ages 5-early 20's. I have three dogs, but one specifically is mine (yes she is my profile picture). I live in the Northern U.S. and I grew up here, not planning to leave any time soon. And I suppose if I had to tell you something remarkable about myself it's that 2013 was the year I spent battling cancer (I know right?).

It kind of goes without saying as a writer I'm a reader as well. I'm currently dipping into horror novels and thrillers, but generally I love to read (and write) young adult literature. Favorite authors include the likes of Charlotte Bronte, Libba Bray, John Green, JK Rowling, George RR Martin, Gregory Maguire, Suzanne Collins, Veronica Roth and others. My guiding philosophy as a writer is that you should really read everything. It's the only job requirement. I've never not finished a book I've picked up (even the bad ones!). I think books give us an opportunity to learn and it's not something any writer should ever undervalue.
