          we were both twelve when i met you, and you introduced me to your world. you showed me that i was not the only one feeling out of place, that i am not the only kid to not fit in. you taught me to accept myself, and to take the good and the bad.
          
          you showed me that nothing is ever as it seems, and that love can be found in the most unlikely places. you helped me see that family is not just blood, its a bond i can have with anyone.
          
          i owe you my life, for letting me escape into your world when my own felt impossibly small. for allowing me to step outside of my own head and into yours, to fall in love just as you have, to accept my weaknesses that i found mirrored in you, a hero.
          
          we've both grown into ourselves over the years. and if im being honest, i did not expect to survive this long here, but everytime i opened your books, staying alive seemed a little easier.
          
          and now you're what? 18? where did the time go? but we survived it. we really both made it this far.
          
          saying goodbye to you is like saying goodbye to a part of myself, my identity. the truth is, i dont think ill ever let you go, ill always seek refuge in your stories and world. ill always look for advice disguised in an adventure.

its been 15 years since the first pjo book was published.
          15 novels.
          3 days until the Percy Jackson series reaches its end.
          4 years of being a fan...
          and i dont regret a single day in this fandom. 
          thank you uncle rick for changing my life in unspeakable ways.
          thank you for bringing these characters into my life when i needed them most. 
          thank you for helping me meet my best friend in the whole world.
          thank you for creating a world where i feel i can be me.
          but most of all, 
          thank you for the happiness you've showed me.
