Once upon a time,
There was a girl and a boy,
Who have known each other their whole lives,

Every day,
They spent hours together,
Not a minute apart,

After growing up to a certain age, 
They started to drift apart,
Each having different values than the other,

The girl wanted a world of color,
Of beauty,
But the boy wanted a world of silence,
And of peace,

Several times,
The girl attempted to bring them closer,
But he shied away 
Refusing to associate with her,

Each day of trying,
She slowly losing hope,
Until she gave up,
But he started to notice,

He regretted denying their friendship,
But he had no idea what to do,
So he decided to give her a surprise,

But during those times apart,
Their interests had changed,
She no longer liked the things she once did,

He started to observe her the next day,
Noticing the simplest things that caught her eye,
But he had no idea where to start from,

She loved the sight of butterflies,
The colors of the sunset,
And the smell of the roses nearby,

After hours of brainstorming,
He decided to pick a dozen roses,
Carefully,
He cut them off their stems 
Avoiding the thorns,

Whispering words of encouragement,
He convinced himself to confess how he felt,
But when he finally reached her,
She was in tears,

Her face was pale white,
Her nose was red and runny,
and she was shivering from the cold,

He walked up to her,
Wondering if he caused this,
Guilt started to overwhelming him,
And he tried to push it away,

He dropped the roses,
And sat beside her,
Not uttering a word,
They gazed upon the moon until the girl whispered,

"Why do you push me away?" She choked up. 

"I didn't mean to. I just thought we've become two totally different people," He wiped her tears away. "But I was wrong."

"I don't know what had gotten into me. I'm sorry." She threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly.

"You promise?"

"I promise." 

After this day,
The boy and the girl grew even closer,
Only remembering the times together.
