I don’t know why I can’t read the original work all the way through without getting distracted. I’ve re-read Year 1 many times, but I can never get through Year 2 in one go. Does anyone know when Kiyotaka’s goal of having all four classes compete on an equal footing first appeared?

The light novel mentioned early on what would happen if all four classes ended up with the same total points. When I read that, I thought it was foreshadowing, and that this scenario would definitely happen later on. To be honest, I also thought everyone might end up in Class A in the end—it fits the theme of equality Kiyotaka talked about at the start of Year 1. But the beginning of the light novel already ruled out that possibility.

I really like Kiyotaka's small group in Class C during Year 3.
I only read the novels before and didn't pay attention to the comments, but even so, I know Year 2 got mostly negative reviews.
How is the reputation of Year 3?

I’ve read part of the latest volume, and it feels like Kiyotaka is totally using some kind of shock therapy. His inner monologue when he broke up with Kei, for instance, shows he’s hoping emotions will well up inside him. I can’t shake the feeling that Hiyori is in danger.

If Kiyotaka does end up failing in the finale, I hope it’s because everyone bands together, and his own newly awakened emotions make him willingly embrace a future where he foresees his own defeat. That would count as overcoming the part of him shaped by the White Room. I still hope Hiyori makes it to the very end and becomes part of the counterbalance in the final showdown
